TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_REPLIED_NEW Something wrong with MVario J-MV 2.4EX ?
25 Jan 2013 22:36Hi Wim, do you hear both tones (high and low frequencies) simultanously or alternately? What happens if you decrease the dead zone and lift the model/vario manually (i.e. going upstairs)...? :huh:wimapon wrote: I do not understand the sound of the Vario-meter when my aircraft is climbing.
I do hear tones with increasing frequency and shorter duration, but at the same time
i do hear long tones with a low frequency.
Is it a lack of my knowledge or is something wrong?
Wim

Hi,
i do hear both tones alternately.
I will do the experiment with a smaller dead zone later today.

An other piece of the same flight... (easystar aircraft)

TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_REPLIED_NEW Something wrong with MVario J-MV 2.4EX ?

After some more digging in the telemetry data i found a channel with some "funny" information.
channel 1;1;1 contains 2 things: 1 the voltage of the motor-accu in the aircraft and 2 an instabile
value, which can be the vario-meter values.
If that is the case, this explains the high and low tones in the variometer sound.......
you see on top the voltage of the accu, and under it the funny value, wich is high when the
motor is full-power ( the accu voltage drops) .
This funny value contains for periods a unreasonable high numer... like 4294967295, which looks like
a default maximum value..... in the graph above i changed this value in zero.
In more detail:
i know it is a bit technical....
If my search is okee, i conclude there is something wrong with the VARIO here.....
So, please help me

So, your MVARIO is giving you wrong information about climbing and descending when you turn your motor on, correct? I assume that you have the propeller attached to the motor and when it is turning, the propeller makes rapid changes with air pressure. You should check the position of MVARIO and make sure that no outside air flux can make any distortions to the sensor.

Yes Raf, i think you are right: the sensor gives wrong information when the motor is turned on.
In descending the sounds look better... the problem is only when climbing with motor on.
But i am doing this experiments with an EasyStar aircraft with the motor and propellor at the backside of the
fuselage.
The front compartiment in the nose with the accu, the receiver and the sensor is fairly closed......
So what do you advise: opening the front compartiment or closing it better?
a better way would be to mount the device in a glider... but then i have to wait until summer to find thermal..
In that aircraft i do already have a Vario-meter with 440 MHz downlink... that works perfect.
Next flight ( with better wether) i will try to climb without motor
