Hi Tero,
With the sensor inline, I have read the FAQ on the build page, and just want to understand, what is the possibility of the ACS chip blowing or burring out and then you loosing power to the plane, most small electric planes don't use separate IBEC's to power the receivers, should the ACS ship blow we'll use power to control the plane in.
Does the ACS work in the same way as a shunt in that, as long as you say with in the rate capacity it's not possible to burn the connectivity ?
Thanks

Interesting question!
Choosing a original sensor from reputable source and avoiding China-Ebay with used or counterfit sensors is of course to prefer. Also do not go cheap on the value, if you use ~90A current's no point of getting a 100, get a 150 or 200 and so on. But always remember, they are spe'd to tolerate ~1000A peaks!
That said. This is also the truth: ALL electronics WILL fail at some point. Everything form your transmitter to receiver, battery and so on, everything WILL FAIL. Sure, it might take 100 years, or 10 minutes.
Personally I just enjoy flying, even with some ACS on board. Crashes are part of this hobby and pretty much all my crashes are due my fingers, not electronics

Hi, the construction of the current sensor is such, that it does not matter if the measurement side gets fried. the current path is a very big fat piece of copper. As Terro says, rated for 1000 Amp pulses. Everything else will have melted, long before the current sensor stops. In other words, worry about connectors, batteries, switches!

Hey Keesbkockland, thanks for the feedback and this is exactly what I was looking for, these unit are built much like a proper current shunt, that it is a solid copper, and you have to push alot of current through before it would burn, and then yes the battery terminals or something else will mostly likely fail way before the copper metls
