After some investigation, yes, there is a bug.

Loading a application may or may not disable sound-files in "Sound On Event". I'll report it to Jeti.

App-size or it's memory usage does not matter.

This is highly personal opinion, read as such!

Recent reports concerning Lua in DC/DS-16 makes me to believe that we are in "too much too soon"-situation.

It is stated by Jetimodel that maximum memory allowed for Lua-apps is 30kB. However vast majority of apps (including most of mine) use more than that. Some use 33kB, one even up to 40+ kB.

it is also confirmed that loading a Lua-app of any size does indeed make some other functions unavailable.

Thoughts on the reason and how to fix:

The 30kB memory limit is not monitored by firmware, that is a proven fact. One solution would be that the limit is monitored and any Lua-apps are simply killed if they use more than allowed memory.

There seems to be some underlying issues as well that have initially nothing to do with memory-usage. One of my apps takes 21kB in runtime, but some issues still happens in transmitter even when nothing in that Lua-app has anything to do with those areas of functions.

That is why:

I am strongly advising you NOT to use ANY Lua-apps when using your model until all these quirks are fixed. If you are stubborn and use something, make absolutely sure you test everything thoroughly.

What's next?

Jetimodel have proven to be fast in responding to quirks in software. I would not be surprised if some information would come quite fast. We have to remember that Jetimodel is on X-Mas holiday at the moment. NONE of these issues have been reported to exist in DC-24. My own testing supports this also, no issues there.

I will continue to make some 16-version Lua-apps as usual since I hope all these issues will be fixed in near future.

All findings are reported to Jetimodel.

Hello TeroS

I think it is really great that they use themselves and the time answer and problems try to solve as far as it is in their power. I love to find their scripts they have thought about something for every user to scripts, I know how much work that makes. I bought a Taranis bought at the time because of Lua scripts but I never flew with the sender. I could only imagine that with the script the error could be because a fixed sound was set. But it would be great if you got more space for the 16 series. I'm still not so long with this great hobby and fly so far only hand sender, fly momentarily with desk and am more than to peace. Because I will definitely buy a 24ger I'll be looking at the season whether I'm not on a desk sender change. So I hope you write still many useful scripts. My respect you have of me One must also not forget we stuck with lua completely at the beginning.

!! Bitte alle meine Apps vom Sender Löschen!

Sorry, wegen meiner Rechtschreibung und Grammatik!!!

That's just what I said before. Lua is a nice approach, but be careful with it when you're going outside to Fly your airplane just at this time .... KLICK

Hallo,

important is to know that the system functionallity of the TX will not be influenced. You can still controll the plane, if you for any reason are using a to big memory APP for DS/DC-16.

Hmm. Are you sure? I had one case where transmitter said "Device Failure" and had to hard-reset?

I need to try replicate that and verify.
