TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_CREATED Usage of a TG module on Futaba
25 May 2021 12:55 - 25 May 2021 12:57
Futaba TF modules, or the universal TU ones, are veeeeery rare today to find, and/or veeery expensive. I have found for as little as 20 eur, a Grauper TG module.
My idea is to open the plastic case, and use the electronics inside my futaba FC28 as if it was a universal TU one.
Any ideas or recomendations?
Plan B would be to get an original futaba HF case and fit inside the TG electronics.
I suppose the electrononics of TF, TU and TG are the same, and only change the plastic case in the TF &TG ones

TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_REPLIED_NEW Usage of a TG module on Futaba

Hello all
I send images of the inside electronics of a TG module.
Could someone with an TF module, open it and make both side photos of the electronics to compare?
I think physically, the socket connector on a Futaba module is on the upper side, while on the Graupner it is on its side. Need to see photos. In that case, maybe it is just the case of removing the side socket on the electronics board, and place it somehow on the upper side, so it can be mounted on the Futaba module case... or make an lead extension, so there is no need to touch delicate soldering on the board.
Any comments?

no need for comparison, it will definately work with any TG TF modul it is just a quesion where the pins are postioned on the platine, function will be definately the same
take care, for TG modules the are eg old ones called TG and newer onec called TG2 and there might be a difference but they will work for sure when you take it off the box anway
maybe you can print a box with a 3D printer to suit sour tray

Thanks for your answer.
How can I know the pin layout of my TG module? Any recomendation on wether I should remove pins, or make a lead extension?

make a lead extension
I use an Jeti R3L inside my frsky taranis
the R3L is a receiver that can be flashed to act as transmitter
I placed the R3L in the tray behind my taranis, a small cable to get VCC/GND from the pins inside the taranis tray and online I found the inout of the taranis pins do no whe ro attach the signal
the antennas of the R3L are inside the tray in 90° angle and it works like a charm
the pinout of the TG ... look at graupner TX and find out there pinouts
as the TG is made for graupner that should than match your TG
