TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_CREATED Motor Safety Switch - serious safety issue

Dear Jeti Team

I am writing this post on behalf of user ' nice ' who asked for s.o. to do this, as he thinks his english might not be sufficient to explain the issue.

When using the motor-safety-switch function, to prevent the motor starting accidently, there is a vulnerability in the code.
'nice' (aka Dennis) has made two videos to show the diference between the Jeti and the Futaba way to approach this task.

VIDEO 1:
As you can clearly see, when the throttle stick is UP e.g. full throttle, activating the motor safety switch on Futaba does not start the 'engine' in this case the servo movement, until the throttle-stick is brought down to ZERO and then moved up.

VIDEO 2:
On Jeti in general the throttle cut with the safety-switch option works, but when the throttle stick is in any other postion than ZERO, activating the motor safety switch, leads to a movement of the motor, again in this case substituted by a servo.

In these days of electric driven engines, that would mean, that the prop would start right away, worest case with full power and cause serious injuries to the pilot and/or third persons.

Peter Wessel has pointed Dennis to the option to post this issue here, and as mentioned before I am writing on their behalf.

rgds, and hopefully a FW update in near future will bring a fix for this issue.

TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_REPLIED_NEW Motor Safety Switch - serious safety issue - first workaround

13 Dec 2017 15:44 - 13 Dec 2017 15:47

As a first workaround I would suggest to define the start-up-position of the motor-stick (down / idle) and the safety-switch (off) to avoid this unwanted and dangerous running of the motor.

correct. and I already answered martin by mail.

to be honest, I am eversince doing as powerpaul mentioned.
I see the probem with that behaviour, but for me I am happy with the way it works now.
I have installed the safety-switch, the one that can only be moved when pulled and not accidently, the rest is IMHO responsiblity of a pilot.
as mentioned in the post, I was only doing Denis a favour to translate on his behalf.

Moin Jungs,

HZi,

as we see we already have some possibilities to protect this .....

We will see if Jeti will make some modification or not.Jeti haven´t heard in more then 3-4 years about such a wish.

Jeti or other companies can not protect all "user behaviors"....

But lets see what will come or not; what we see is that within some minutes we had the contact to the Jeti software developer; that is great with Jeti.

One thing no other brand has .
