TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_CREATED Multiple log files per flight
18 Sep 2020 19:17
Hi, anyone else had this?
I have multiple logs of various sizes and durations for a single flight. From seconds to 2 minutes. Model - 7m ASH31
I thought it might have been because of the file size as I was logging GPS, however they are random sizes 5 to 550kb.
I did use the RCThoughts method using telemetry - voltage, to be the log trigger www.rc-thoughts.com/2014/12/automatic-st...f-telemetry-logging/
The voltage in flight never got near the start/stop 5V trigger point, using 2x 2S LiFe for flight batteries, so I'm not sure why it happened, although my Q values for the two RSATs were not great at times. Most of the files end with it at 0 to 10%. So this could be why logging stopped/started, the reason for the multiple files. I'll change back to a timer, also need to alter my receiver antenna positions I guess as A values are down to 2 at times. Which is strange as they are all apart and in 3 axes, as clear from other components as possible.
I'd like to see the flight data in one file. I know I can download the GPS path from it.
I haven't attempted to, do you think I could merge these files to make one?

logs are thriggerd in the jeti system by flight timers
when you start a timer, the logging starts
if you now land, and stop the timer the logging will continue until you clear the timer
if you clear and restart the timer a new log is made
thats the logic behind it
or if I did get you wrong, than sorry but then we need more details of what when how ...

TPL_KUNENA_MESSAGE_REPLIED_NEW Multiple log files per flight

Hi Guido, true in usual circumstances, however I used a different method to start logging as described in the link.
I am content with how logging works and believe the low Q shows telemetry loss that resulted in the start stop triggers, hence multiple files. I will improve this and, as stated will revert to a timer for the log trigger.
My question is, has anyone attempted to merge log files?

as far as I know merging log files has not been attempted yet
I do not think that low Q-values cause multiple log entries
a) I have had low Q values and even signal losses in logfiles
b) when logging starts, you can even pull the RX battery and switch it off completely forced so to speak, that does not stop logging
must be sth else IMHO

Hi bananaman,
rc-thoughts is not using the reciever voltage, he said that didnt work. He is using the battery voltage of the 6s flight pack in his example via MUI .

griss
