The DS-16 is a great transmitter but its reaaally cold in winter time.
I wonder if it couldn't be a great product ...
The internal radio heater !
A combination of a sticky heating tape, like the one used in a terrarium , an internal heat sensor and an external battery, preferably a very thin 2S Lipo neatly tucked or built into the bottom plate.
I would totally shell out some money for that mod as long as its tested by Jeti and does not interfere with the radios main function.

I am using a Raydiowarm MITT and I even have a very nice heating system implemented using a tire warmer kit .
The control unit sits under the window, four warming mattes are at the sides and it's powered by 4S batterie which keeps it warm all day.
So don't worry about me :)
But still, the heat is passive and the radio is still cold,
If you ever tried heated motorcycle grips you never want to ride without them.
The metal housing of the DS-16 is perfect for this...
Think about it , Jeti,..

English please :)

As Larson mentions correctly, this might cause problems with the signal transmission, even when my tests last winter with a DX18 not indicated such a symptom.
But the DX18 Antenna, or at least one of them was sticking out of the case.
This winter I will move the heating elements into the ground plate .
